Rules for teachers in 1915
Would you have wanted to teach school in 1915?

List of rules for teachers in 1915

Joan Hembree of Walden collected this list of rules for school teachers. Teachers were expected to be the moral example in the community.

Some of the rules teachers worked under seem impossible to us today. For example, an unmarried teacher was not allowed to go out on dates. Also, a teacher could not "dress in bright colors" or "be seen downtown alone".
