Pearl & Opal Whiteley when they moved to Oregon in 1902

This is the earliest picture of sisters Pearl and Opal Whiteley. It was probably taken shortly before the family moved to Oregon in 1902. Pearl was about four years old at the time of the diary.

Pearl and Opal were not close sisters. In other parts of her diary Opal calls her simply "the little girl".
